One day, Coline Casse noticed the presence of bees dying in her working studio. More dead bees came, day after day, as a dreadful procession reminding her of the alarming agony of certain endangered animal species. She started collecting them and meticulously embalmed their remains. The installation in itself, with the white pillow, evokes sleepiness or even nightmares. The artist aims at underlying the global lethargy towards the signals of nature’s death throes, and especially our inability – or unwillingness – to prevent the ongoing dramatic extinction of species.
